  6.     Welcome to "Scene Archives Search Utility" (now refered to as SASU).. 
  7.  
  8. IMPORTANT: if you want DMS to extract from CD #3, you HAVE to type in the
  9. following:-
  10.     
  11.         assign Scene3: "Scene Archives 3:"
  12.

  15. What is SASU?
  16. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
  17.  
  18.     Well, basically, SASU will help you to locate any item that you are after.
  19. Simply  type  in  a  keyword  (ie,  a Demo Name, or Group Name, or even a Disk
  20. Number!),  and  the  program  will  search  and  find any relating data.  Then
  21. double-click  on  the required item, and if you have any of The Scene Archives
  22. handy, it'll try to find the file you are after, and you'll be able to extract
  23. that  item to disk (if it is a DMS), or else to a directory on your Hard Drive
  24. (if it is a LZX file).  There is also some information on the demo presented.

  27. Installing:

  30.     I  recommend that you should just copy SASU to a directory on your HD.  So
  31. then  it  is  easily  accessible.   Just  copy  these  files  to  your HD on a
  32. directory:-

  34.             Scene
  35.             Scene.info
  36.             scene.data1
  37.             scene.data2
  38.  
  39.     Also  you  might  have  to  install  the new version of NList.mcc, as this
  40. program  was written for v0.85.  It is included on this CD.  Also this program
  41. was written under MUI v3.8.

  44. Options
  45. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
  46.  
  47.     There are 2 Search Options, and they Are:-
  48.  
  49.         Search Criteria: What field do you want to search under ? 
  50.                             - Demo Name  = Searchs only for the Name.
  51.                             - Group Name = Searchs only for that Groups Prods.
  52.                             - Disk Num.  = See What is on a Specific Disk.
  53.                             - Demo+Group = Search for Demo and Group Names
  54.  
  55.         Search Options:  What type of Sort?
  56.                             - Full       = Will search for ever occurence of
  57.                                            the specified Keyword.
  58.                             - Simple     = This just looks for the Keyword 
  59.                                            only.
  60.                             - Range Search = This is a special search that
  61.                                              will show everything that is 
  62.                                              in a certain Range of Disks.

  64. To Use Range Search
  65. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

  67.     The way you use the Range Search is like this.. 
  68.     1 - Make sure that the Disk Nuber is selected in the Search Criteria
  69.         Section.
  70.     2 - In the Keyword, type in the two numbers you want to search for. For
  71.         Example. if you want to find out what is between Disks #7566 and Disk 
  72.         #7600, somply type "7566 7600" in the Search Keyword (of course with
  73.         out the "'s!!).. For another example, type the following :-
  74.                     4534 4765 
  75.         in the Search Keyword entry, and then see what happens..
  76.     3 - And press Search.

  79. Updates:

  82.     SASU  will  be regularily updated.  All the updates will appear on Aminet.
  83. Just search for "SASU", and you'll find it..

  86. What are the Scene Archives?
  87. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

  89.     The  Scene  Archives  is  a massive collection of Amiga Scene Productions,
  90. currently  it  spans  Eleven  CD's,  with  around  1000 disks on each CD..  So
  91. basically  10440  disks  are  currently  in the Set.  I hope to have The Scene
  92. Archives #12 out at around Christmas 2001.

  119. v1.09:  [24 Feb 2001]
  120.         - There are now 16933 Entries
  121.         - Fixed a nasty Bug when you Searched under "All" , it would display a
  122.           lot of garbage in the list.  
  123.         - Changed the All Search so it ONLY Searches for demo and Group. And
  124.           also changed the Label for this Button.
  125.         - Got rid of the pesky CD requestor, so that if SASU sees the Needed
  126.           CD already mounted onto the system, it will automatically look for
  127.           the file.  If the CD is not mounted in the system, it will then
  128.           prompt for the required CD.
  129.         - Now has prober inplementation of disks that are over the 10000
  130.           number.
  131.         - Added so that CD #11 is working in SASU.
  132.         - Finally added an Install Script :)

  137.     (10-May-00) - Newest Database with 16363 Entries from Disks #1 to #9939.
